Get Started with Kemaan Studio Studio

Welcome to Kemaan Studio Studio! This guide will walk you through the very basics of getting your first track up and running in our cloud-based DAW.

Creating Your First Project

To begin producing, you need to create a new project:

  1. Log in to your Kemaan Studio account.
  2. Navigate to your Dashboard.
  3. Click the prominent New Project button in the top right corner.
  4. Give your project a name and click Create.

Your new project will load instantly in the browser.

Exploring the Interface

The Kemaan Studio interface is designed to be intuitive and familiar to users of other popular DAWs, while being optimized for the web.

The Arrangement View

The main area of the screen is the Arrangement View. This is where you sequence your audio clips, MIDI clips, and automation over a horizontal timeline.

  • Tracks are listed vertically on the left.
  • Time flows horizontally from left to right.

The Browser

On the far left, you’ll find the Browser. This is your hub for:

  • Browsing your personal sample library.
  • Accessing Kemaan Studio’s cloud soundpacks.
  • Loading virtual instruments and effect plugins (VSTs).

The Transport Bar

At the top of the screen is the Transport Bar. Here you can:

  • Play, Pause, and Record.
  • Turn the Metronome on or off.
  • Adjust the global Tempo (BPM) and Time Signature.

Adding Sounds

You can easily drag and drop samples from the Browser directly onto an empty space in the Arrangement View to create an Audio Track. Try dragging a drum loop from the “Basic Beats” soundpack to get started!

Saving Your Work

Kemaan Studio automatically saves your project to the cloud periodically. However, you can manually save by pressing Ctrl + S (or Cmd + S on Mac) or by navigating to File > Save in the top menu.

Tip
You can see all available keyboard shortcuts by pressing ? anywhere in the Studio to open the Shortcut Cheat Sheet.
